Guides
Task-oriented how-tos for the everyday review loop — sync, comment, submit, reconcile, and triage.
These are task-focused walkthroughs of the everyday review loop. Each one starts from a concrete situation, uses a fixture pull request so you can follow along in the demo, and points at the exact keys and commands involved.
The review loop
The core path is short and always the same, in every run mode:
- Triage the inbox — the list sorts by what needs doing today, loudest first: unresolved threads on your own PRs.
- Sync a pull request — one burst pulls the PR down as a snapshot; from then on you review offline.
- Write inline comments — select lines, type into a local draft that saves as you go, and drop suggestion blocks.
- Submit the review — send the draft as Comment, Approve, or Request changes.
- Reconcile a moved head — if the branch was force-pushed between sync and submit, decide what happens to every pending comment instead of losing your work.
Also here
- The author queue — when you opened the PR: the author banner and walk-the-queue mode for working through incoming feedback.
- Viewed state and reactions — mark files viewed to track progress across a large diff, and react to comments.
- Reviewing a local branch — review a branch against a base with no pull request, no push, and no token; nothing in it ever reaches GitHub.
Try it without any setup
Every example below works in mock mode — in-browser fixtures with no daemon, no GitHub token, and no network. Run the frontend and it loads mock mode by default:
bun install
bun dev # http://localhost:5173Append ?mock=1 to any URL to force mock mode regardless of configuration. The
fixture PRs referenced throughout (#101, #204, #312, #347, #355,
#362, #389, #401, #410, #415) all live there.
To review a real repository as yourself, see the direct-mode setup. Broker mode — the shared-identity deployment for teams in disposable workspaces — is designed and reserved, but not a shipped boot option; it is not runnable today.
